Late-Breaking Sessions are sessions that deal with important phenomena related to Earth and Planetary sciences that arise after the session proposal deadline and that are deemed to require immediate information sharing and discussion. A convener who has received approval from at least one of the Board of Directors of the Japan Geoscience Union may propose a session. The Program Committee holds the right to decide the acceptance of the proposed session.
Requirement for Proposal
・The topic must be an important phenomenon related to Earth and Planetary sciences that is deemed to require immediate information sharing and discussion.
・The convener must obtain approval of the proposal from at least one member of the Board of Directors of the JpGU.
Proposal Steps
・Proposals may be submitted at any time between the session proposal deadline and one month prior to the start of the meeting using the designated application form. The name of at least one board member who approved the application is also required when submitting a proposal.
・Late-Breaking Session can also be held as Public Session.
Requirements to Hold a Late-Breaking Session
・Oral presentations will be held in online format before or after the meeting. Poster presentations will be held in-person during the meeting. Posters-only sessions are also possible.
・If multiple proposals are submitted in relation to the same event/topic, the total number of oral sessions (including the public session, if one is also held) should be a maximum of 4 slots in total.
Acceptance
・The Program Committee holds the right to decide the acceptance of the proposed session.
・The proposed session may be rejected if any of the following conditions apply.
-Those that do not meet the conditions for acceptance of the session as stated in the Convener Guidelines.
-Significant phenomena related to Earth and Planetary science that do not require an immediate session proposal.
Contributors to Late-Breaking Session
・After the session is accepted by the Program Committee, the Program Committee will schedule the abstract submission period. All submissions must be newly submitted, and those that have already been submitted to other sessions will not be transferred.
・There is no early-bird discount on abstract submission fees. All fees are standard rates.
